Swatches and Sketches

What does a woman do when she has her mid life crisis? well... goes to seminars about egg freezing, gets a hair cut, buys the manga brush pens she'd been covetting for months, nearly gets ODed on Dark hot chocolate while making little swatches and sketches of her newly bought prized brush-pen collections and... well... pays a visit to a.. lets just say... a pal.

Notice how I am so not impressed by the Light Flesh swatch and though I can get a much better shade by mixing the colors myself.. which I did in the morning.. only to find out now after actually comparing with the swatch that they are pretty darmn close.. I still like my own watercolor mix better than the waterproof ink of the brush pens which makes shading a pain.... but I love the colors nonetheless... I"m still not entirely satisfied by the Basic set which has greys that are a tad too dark imo.



These two are done from watercolor-pencils.. which I love btw! ..(plus black Zig Millenium markers for the outlines)



And these are examples of really bad cases of watercolor bleeding on cheap paper and combined with zero patience to let the colors dry before proceeding!
