Ear Phone Covers

I bought my first pair of ear phones in Australia on the Adelaide airport on my way to Sydney last December, the JVC XX Bass. When I'd used them they just blew my mind. I sampled many ear/head phones after that but when it came to cost, handling the bass efficiency and output these have been the best! My Sennies would've stood second had they still been alive today because I could wear them while I slept on a side and they won't hurt much or jut out of the ears... I wish I'd seen this tutorial about crocheting a sheath on the ear phones before. The idea is amazing and in her comments section she talks about making this from 'jelly yarn' to make them water proof plus more resilient and I loved this idea! And in my year of googling easy crochet patterns it hasn't shown up once! I love this.. not sure why it hasn't gone viral yet..

I started out to do these yesterday in the Rainbow colored yarn I had.. I figured they would go with anything in that silly yarn... After getting some SCs on I saw that the instructions (in step 6) said to cover a few inches of the yarn to keep it secure.. It was quite late when I started this project last night and figured it'd be easy to just rip the stitches apart and start over with this information in mind.

I made them in about 3 or so hours today in the evening and yarned over all the excess pieces of yarn you get - in three places, near both the earbuds and again at the center if you chose to leave the center connector thingie visible... I can't say I"m thrilled at my outcome because the yarn sort of frayed through the stitches and I"m not sure that's a good thing... But what I do like... is the end result - Before and the After:

I love these even more now!!! I must say that all that yarn does make them bulkier and heavier but like the original blogger mentioned.. its much less likely to tangle now and will wear longer. My music just got a bit more colorful! yayyy
