-----------update 1-03-2014--------
The ginormous amounts of knitting and crocheting stuff I'd ordered ended up being sent back to the seller.. because I moved left mel, moved to here and the shipment arrived after I left.. the real estate person that collected it couldn't send the stuff back because "it was something they hadn't packaged"! I"m not so dissapointed at losing the $50 or so that I spent on it.. but I do feel so bad that it arrived just alittle too late that i couldn't even tear open the packaging.. that's the most fun part.. and when iI go back to my eBay page and see all the colorful stuff I'd bought.. it kinda makes my heart sink... sigh..
oh well... new city.. new hobby.
Or maybe I'd be too busy

eFF that if some mother-effing goddam job-situation is going to make me quit! I am a fighter and won't go down without a fight! there is no way to keep this boar caged! Grunt! Grunt!!

Anyhow, so apart from just watching videos and reading how-tos, I"ve also done a solid 6 hours of knitting to make these:

The pattern is nicely written, plus lots of photos means that visual people like me don't have to read and rearead the instructions like a 100 times before making any sense out of them. HAving said that, the ribbing part... damn! It was so hard to figure out its meaning that I unraveled my knitting twice trying to 'guess' what they meant, after I watched a video on YouTube on ribbing, I finally got it right.. but I've got to say.. 'ITS NOT EASY' for beginners.. sorry for shouting that out.. but I've had to use my patience to its absolute limits to get that ribbing thing right. This is also the first time I did a stockinette stitch with the help of this video tutorial... heck i'm new to knitting to just about every stitch I do henceforth its going to be the first time I've ever done it so please bear with my phrase overusage a bit :)
I kind of messed up at one of the rows while ribbing and I decided to call it in and casted off the mittens right there rather than finish with the number of remaining rows according to the pattern. Now having done that can be seen as both a good thing or a not-so-good one.. You can see how nicely snug it fits my hand so if I'd stitched the additional rows, the mitten might have been too long for me.. so that's great.. But the thing is.. I casted off in a fit of frustration and there's really no easy way of telling which row I was on... so if I were to do a matching mitten for the other hand... that won't be so easy to do... Well.. honestly.. I wasn't going to make another baby pink mitten anyway (actually that's a clever way of saying that this mitten turned out with some sskipped stitches and unexplained holes) I love how this one's turned out... But I think I'll try some other color now for making a pair.... Who knows.. I may even try some cabling too.. oh my crazy wishful thinking!

The pattern can be found here.. I just have to say... Many T H A N K S to all the knitters that not only make these awesome yarn magic.. but are so kind that they generously publish their patterns as well as provide detailed tutorials on them so n00bs like me don't have to actually go and take up classes!!!
