Most tutorials out there will tell you how you can make a waterprrof bag to hold your wet stuff after swimming or so.. but this situation called for the outside to be waterproof... And that's where I thought why not make a regular boxy pouch with the fabric inside and clear vinyl on the outside!
And thats how this little guy came into being:

I did the top-stitching with a super-helpful Roller foot. I didn't even bother trying this time with the regular zigzag foot or I"d just have been able to reiterate how annoying it is to stitch on a slick fabric like the clear vinyl! And then I thought I've done this before... with an oilcloth! Why am I making a fabric covered by clear vinyl pouch when I could've just made one from an oilcloth and got the same result! And that's when reality set in.. there are a ton of things I "could've" done in India but because I still haven't figured out where I can get most of these peculiar things in Australia, its likely that I won't be making them that way anytime soon.. or even if I did find them.. the price of those would just be too shocking in comparison for me to buy it... Like I bought a couple of meters of this polka dot fabric yesterday for $7.50 pm and I was like whoa... shold I really have bought 2 meteres.. like is 15 bucks really worth it am I even going to be needing all that fabric? I'd probably just use a quarter of it in things like LadyBug pincushions or something that I don't need and likely won't even complete.. Oh by the way, here's the pattern.. even if I won't really be doing these soon, I have the pattern lying right in front of me for the last 3 weeks!
The pouch is made using the basic concept in this tutorial.
I enjoyed doing it... didn't take me more than a couple hours but the cut vinyl, fabic and the zip had been lying around for quite a few days.. Guess I just made it seem difficult than it really was.
The problem with this little guy, though, is that if I put my shower gel in it, it can't really hold anything else.. So I"m not sure whether to make another one for the shower gel, shampoo, conditioner bottles or get one of those small 'travel kit' type bottles. I couldn't be bothered with either because all this is just for a 2 day 1 night volunteer camp thing that I"m going and in those tiny little fonts it said "accommodation provided in hostels, or tents... so it may very likely be that I"d be bathing in the nearby river and won't even need the shampoo etc. bottles... but that makes me wonder.. where would I be releiving! yuck!!!!
